Designing Closed Systems Explanatory Performance Task
Task:
Your biology teacher keeps a fish tank in the classroom. You
know that the tank needs to be cleaned regularly or the fish
waste will make the water unlivable for the fish. Your teacher
challenges the class to find a way to keep the tank clean
without using chemical cleaners. You decide to research
closed ecosystems. As part of your initial research, you find
four sources.
After you have reviewed these sources, you will answer some
questions about them. Briefly skim the sources and the
questions that follow. Then, go back and read the sources
carefully so you will have the information you will need to
answer the questions and finalize your research.
In Part 2 you will write an explanatory article on a topic
